heaven help me

I fear these might just be the reason that the baby weight stays with me for a couple more months. I can't help myself.

baby blues

I took this photo on Cohen's 2 month birthday and just haven't posted it until now. To celebrate he put on his big boy jeans and climbed up in the glider all by himself!!

ok I made that last part up

He Rolls

Remember this kid? Little Hercules he's called because of his ridiculous strength at such a young age. It's nuts really. The kid is like 8 or something and can bench WAY more than he should be able to. Should 8 year olds even BE bench pressing? Not sure how I feel about it. Regardless, this post is not about him at all. My point is that two days ago on his 2 month birthday our boy, Cohen, rolled from his back to his tummy. Now I know every child does things at their own pace but that early milestone, coupled with the fact that he weighed in at 13 lbs today at the doctor, I'm thinking he's well on his way to giving little hercules there a run for his money. He will not, however, be allowed to pose for photos while doing the splits!

He really did have a great checkup today. He's in the 80% for weight and 90% for height. He got his vaccines like a champ. Sure, he screamed and turned red in the face but Mommy was the one who shed the tears. Whew...

Then we went to the park for a date with sweet Davy Page. It was beautiful but unseasonably warm outside today and since Cohen got the shots in his legs, I decided not to bother him with putting his jeans back on. That's the last time he's allowed to go on a date without his pants on!!!

This video isn't the best quality but it's all I could upload. It's short but I hope you enjoy seeing him smile. Hope everyone has a fantastic week.

Thankful

I've been wanting to write this since Thursday. I usually put a bunch of silly nonsense on this blog but on occasion I feel the need to write something of substance. I know photos of my son ARE substance but just hear me out...

Today and for the past few days I've been thinking of how grateful I am for my church and the people who serve there. Thursday Cohen and I went to a meeting at Watermark for new moms and babies. It was beyond refreshing. I hope this doesn't bore those of you who maybe can't relate (don't have newborns) but I just feel compelled to say that I'm thankful for women who took the time to meet with us and help us through this phase of life which at times can be quite challenging. I entered the room and felt like I was looking into a mirror as I saw many faces, tired like mine, shoulders aching like mine from carrying the big ol' infant seat and eyes perhaps a little puffy from lack of them being closed for more than 3 hours straight. I was not alone anymore. I'm not the only one who stands in the closet wondering what to wear because either nothing fits or isn't conducive to breast feeding. I'm not the only one who hovers between tears of joy, tears of exhaustion, and tears of well... really anything. It was refreshing to hear women pray for me. Praying for things that could seem trivial to someone who's not in the thick of it. I was uplifted and I hope that once I've traveled this road I'm able to look back at the difficult moments and pull someone else through.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Cohen with all my heart and I'm SO glad the Lord saw fit to make me his mother. I just also feel that I'm a different person now, life requires that I make some changes. I'm just glad to know that there are people in my boat sailing along with me and that there are women who love the Lord, listen to his calling and are there to help people like me when my boat gets tipsy.

7 weeks

11 pounds 10 ounces of PURE CRAZY...

Hard to tell by the photos but I promise he does wear clothes on occasion.
Happy Saturday

the Curls

I saw this on a friend's blog and thought it was hilarious. If you've got curls like me, you can relate...

The curls, their hearts are full of rebellion.
They fight against the one who loves them.
Their minds are set on evil all the time.
Selah.

Woe to the curls.
Woe to the curls that disobey their mistresses.
Woe to the curls that do one thing in the morning and another thing in the noontime.
Woe to the curls that go limp in the evening.
Woe to the curls that freak out before times of public speaking.
Woe to the curls that look dumb for parties.

They shall be flattened with hot irons.
They shall be poisoned with every kind of gooey chemical.
They shall be cut off from the heads that grew them.
They shall be banished from the scalp, and the scalp shall remember their place no more.
Selah.

But the obedient hair shall be loved by its mistress.
It will dwell on the scalp and grow long.
It will be dressed with lovely-smelling organic products.
It will be combed gently with boar-bristle brushes.
Surely, the obedient hair will prosper and the curly shall bow down at its roots.
