SPICY!

I am Basil

Quite popular and loved by post people. I have a mild temperament, but my style is definitely distinctive. I am sweet, attractive, and I often smell good.

How does the internet know what I smell like??

Green Tip of the day

I pulled this from the Daily Danny and thought I would share it with you all as part of my quest to become "green" or "hippy tree hugging freak girl" as Chris would say... he really does love me though deep down.

Is washing dishes by hand or being lazy and using a dishwasher better for the environment?
A: Always by hand, because it saves water.
B: In the dishwasher, because I don’t have time.
C: I only use disposable plates.

ANSWER: Clearly, disposable is not the greenest choice. But believe it or not, using a dishwasher is actually the lazier and greener choice! Washing dishes by hand can use up to 50 percent more water than a water-efficient, Energy Star rated dishwasher. New models of diswashers today--- from companies like Bosch---use only 4 gallons of water and up to 41% less energy. The best eco-solution is to fill up a dishwasher and run it when it’s full.

Good to know since that's my least favorite chore in the house!
Happy Tuesday to ya.

Bottoms Up

coolest art exhibit I've seen in a LONG time...

Put on my blue suede shoes and boarded a plane...

...touched down in the land of the delta blues in the middle of the pouring rain. Oh wait, it WASN'T raining. Surprise surprise ;o)

For those unfamiliar with this song, I went to Memphis this weekend. Thanks to my mom and dad for "good fun"! I just got back last night and it was entirely too short of a trip (as is ALWAYS the case). I got to surprise my sister on Friday night because she didn't know I was coming to town. Thanks Ben for doing a GREAT job covering for me! ;o)

A special thanks to Mom and Pop Wiggins because they got me a huge box of vintage PYREX for a belated Valentines gift! It was such a wonderful surprise!! I can't wait to get it all home and into my cabinets to show off. I don't have any photos of it yet but I will post them as soon as I do. Here are some photos I pulled off the internet. Butterfly Gold and Harvest. It's not these exact pieces but the patterns anyway. I also got some that are polka dot, orange and lime. LOVE IT!!

How do you do?

Katy's blog entry made me think of this...

Do you say Corny Dog or Corn Dog? People in Texas say Corny Dog and I believe they're all wrong. Please prove to me that I'm not the only one...

Leggins and Tights

Chris teases me because rather than saying leggings I choose to refer to them as leggins'. When I was out for lunch today I was inspired by all the leggins' I saw to write the following post ...

Some women in the world have apparently not been told that there is a BIG difference between leggings and tights. Or maybe they just get dressed early when it's still dark and as they pull the stretchy fabric out of that drawer crammed with undies, they think, "what the heck tights, leggings...same thing". Oh how they are NOT the same. One you can see through (even if just partially) and one, you cannot. Simple.

If you wear a very short top and choose to pair it with something, make sure that you choose leggins' ladies. Thick, opaque leggins! If you wear a dress or skirt however, feel free to don the tights, which unbeknownst to some, are somewhat more transparent.

Also, it appears that there is a trend among college girls as of late. I'm a trend victim 100% but this one I don't get. Wearing leggings with a fleece and tall Ugg boots. I would really be fine with this were it not for the fact that the fleece and t-shirt underneath just graze the top of their hip bones, thus leaving the tush uncovered except for a paper thin layer of spandex. What's that about? I thought most girls were concerned about concealing their backside because they fear (even at a whopping size 2) that they might expose any possible cellulite. The gym is one thing, because I've done that, but why wear them out to lunch or the mall?

Let's just hope that they don't mix up their leggings and tights because that, my friends, would be embarrassing.

Here's a fun fashion website for your enjoyment too!

Giants Win!

Here are the photos I took at the Superbowl party. Not too many great ones but some made the cut. Unfortunately a lot were blurry! My fault!

Adalyn was the star of the show apparently. Quite a few of these are only of her! She's a beautiful model though... Allyson, sorry if we accidentally let her eat too many chips! Gosh that girl loves salsa! Can I get an Amen?

NEATNESS!

I wonder if I could do this? I feel like I would laugh or my nose would itch. The lady with the ice cream, I bet it dripped all over the place!

Confession of a Pyrex lover

If you think back super hard, surely you can remember seeing one of these in your grandmother's refrigerator. Lately I've been realizing how pretty I think they are. I don't have any but I KNOW there has to be some in the deep dark recesses of my family members' cabinets. If you want to mail one to me in a carefully packed box of styrofoam peanuts, I'm fine with that.

I did have ONE of Chris's grandma Vida's bowls but alas, as my sweet husband was washing it, his soapy little paw slipped and CRACK... no more beautiful pyrex goodness. Can't blame him though, HE WAS DOING THE DISHES (which is a chore I despise). Anyway, after that happened I got kind of sad and realized I really loved that bowl. So, I think I'll take a little trip to the antique store and see what I can uncover! Maybe I'll check Ebay too while I'm trying to sell all my old prom dresses. Although, if history repeats itself, maybe I should save those dresses for that daughter I don't have yet. Could she possibly appreciate floor length sequins as much as I adore these old casserole dishes?
